What is Justice?

Justice is something that has been evolving since the beginning of time. From women's rights, to racial discrimination, justice has been seen all over the world. Each person has experienced it at least one time in their life. It has taken many, many years for justice to be what it is today. But even though it is the 21st century, and it seems as if we have conquered justice, we still have many more things to conquer.

Around the world, justice is portrayed in different ways. Justice in one country, is not the same in the next. For example, the death penalty. The death penalty is legal in the United States of America, but in Canada, it is illegal. Is that justice? This video shows, the death penalty is in-just. But in this article, it shows that the death penalty is justice. The question is, who is right? Where do we draw the line? The justice system is defiantly corrupt, because it has created a society where no one knows the right from wrong, and the in-just from the justice.

Justice is something that keeps everything fairly in order. Without it, the world we live in will become completely corrupt. Our morals DO tell us whether something is justice or not, so it defiantly does play apart in our decisions whether something is justice or in-just.

The Value of Philosophy

What is philosophy? Philosophy is when you take a simple, yet complicated question, and think about it. It may seem simple to do so, but what a real philosopher does, they take this question and think about it. Philosophers think about every aspect, and analyze each detail of lifes complicated questions. Reason and logic are key to be a philosopher.

Even as a philosopher, when you think you have found the answer to a question, you always look at the other side of the problem. You try and "wear a different hat". A true philosopher knows how to look at both sides, and understand, even if they are uncomfortable with the opposing position. Even philosophers who have been practicing this act for many, many years, still cannot find the answers they are looking for.
What is philosophy good for? I believe that in philosphy you seem to discover your true self. By asking your self the questions you would have never thought of. But yet, you seem to find the answers to the questions you've always had. In this link, it shows how to "find" your true self. It even states that you need to attempt and rediscover your self in order to find who you really are. As a philosopher, that is what you tend to do. By answering these complicated questions, you truly start to rediscover who you really are. by finding out the points of views you have, and the asnwers to all your deepest questions.

So, what is the value of philosophy? Finding your true self.

Should We Accept Reality?

Why do we try to escape from reality? We may not even realize it, but we do it everyday. Girls wear makeup in order to make themselves appear
older. When these girls become women, they undergo cosmetic surgary in order to make themselves appear younger. Are we contradicting ourselves? Why wouldn't we want to escape our reality? When things ge hard in life, we tend to fdriff into our own world. The stress of our life is sometimes too much to handle, and once again, we try to escape from reality. Should everyone in the world act hedonistic, or would it be better to be stoic? The clear choice is to be stoic, because if everyone were hedonistic, the world would be very corrupted. Living life carefree sounds great, but if everyone was carefree ALL the time, it wouldn't be so great for our planet. As a hedonist, a person would be living in their own little world, but when tragedy happens such as death or disease, it would be quite difficult for this hedonist person. While stoics use logic in life, they believe that virtue is sufficient for happiness. I believe that living as a stoic is much for sufficient fro a happy life. If something terrible happens in your life, such as a loved one dying, i would rather feel pain, and grieve, then to act hedonistic and not grieve at all. Because, hedonistic people are "self indulgent", which is very selfish. If the world was hedonistic, we would not have inspirational heroes such as Mr. Teszler, who was spoken about by Ben Dunlap, on TED.
