I believe that marriage is something that should not be rushed into. If a woman has a child out of wedlock, they should be just as supported by the government as people who are married with children. In the modern world of today, many more people are having children "casually", which means there are more and more single parents out there today. Some may say that being single with a child is the wrong way to bring them up, however I believe this is false.
A single unwed mother will feel the pressure to get married, however it is more important for the health of the child to have a stable home rather then an unstable home with divorced parents. So this brings up the question wether it is better to be married, or to stay single? There has been a number of studies that have shown that it is not just the number of parents in the home which matters, but it is the stability that matters. The instability in families is what is causing problems. Therefore weather it is a single family or not, if it is unstable, it will cause problems.
We value marriage way more than we used to. It is valued as a status symbol in order to show people that you have a successful life. Why is it that being a single parent is so frowned upon? Family is the basic function of society, therefore it is very important for it to remain stable. When a child views their mother and father constantly fighting and on the brink of divorce, it's very possible that the child will learn negative views towards marriage. However, if a child grows up in a happy home with a single parents, the child would not have any negative feelings towards the subject.
In conclusion, because family life is so important for the foundation of a child, it is important to have a stable family life. Weather the parents are single or married, it is just important to remain stable. Therefore, the right kind of union would be any sort of stable and happy union.
