Should We Accept Reality?

Why do we try to escape from reality? We may not even realize it, but we do it everyday. Girls wear makeup in order to make themselves appear
older. When these girls become women, they undergo cosmetic surgary in order to make themselves appear younger. Are we contradicting ourselves? Why wouldn't we want to escape our reality? When things ge hard in life, we tend to fdriff into our own world. The stress of our life is sometimes too much to handle, and once again, we try to escape from reality. Should everyone in the world act hedonistic, or would it be better to be stoic? The clear choice is to be stoic, because if everyone were hedonistic, the world would be very corrupted. Living life carefree sounds great, but if everyone was carefree ALL the time, it wouldn't be so great for our planet. As a hedonist, a person would be living in their own little world, but when tragedy happens such as death or disease, it would be quite difficult for this hedonist person. While stoics use logic in life, they believe that virtue is sufficient for happiness. I believe that living as a stoic is much for sufficient fro a happy life. If something terrible happens in your life, such as a loved one dying, i would rather feel pain, and grieve, then to act hedonistic and not grieve at all. Because, hedonistic people are "self indulgent", which is very selfish. If the world was hedonistic, we would not have inspirational heroes such as Mr. Teszler, who was spoken about by Ben Dunlap, on TED.
